Muay Thai (literally meaning Thai Boxing) is a form of Martial Arts. It is the national sport of Thailand and enjoys immense popularity there, which it enjoys in other South East Asian nations as well. It is also popular in countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, Russia, etc.

What type of schedule do they follow in Muay Thai training?

A Muay Thai fighter undergoes an intensive training 6 days a week, from Monday to Saturday (Sunday being the only off day). The training takes place twice a day, in the morning and the afternoon. The total training time is 4-6 hours per day, with 2-3 hours each for the morning and the afternoon sessions.

Is it OK if I do not have 100 per cent fitness?

Your fitness level will not be an issue for the training program. The experienced trainers will judge your fitness level and will train you accordingly.

Is any previous Martial Arts experience required to learn Muay Thai?

It is absolutely no issues if you are a complete rookie in Martial Arts. There are appropriate Muay Thai programs for people who are just the beginners.

What is the best time to start Muay Thai training?

Any time is best time for Muay Thai training. High season in Thailand is from November to April, while in the other months there can be more frequent rainfall. However this does not affect your training since all training is undercover and the rain can be quite nice to cool down. Flights might also be a bit cheaper outside the high season as well as other prices.

Are partially physically challenged people eligible for the training?

A physically challenged person is always welcome for Muay Thai training. This great martial art is much more than mere kicking and punching. And a physically challenged person is as much eligible as anybody else.

No. Muay Thai does not have belts as you find in Karate (like white, yellow, black, etc.). In Muay Thai “belts” precisely mean the championship belts that you hold after winning a championship fight in a certain weight class/region/organization. For example IMTA (International Muay Thai Association) championship belts, USMTA United States Muay Thai Association) championship belts, etc.
